Essentials

Lessons 1–4

Basic NRP

For providers involved in newborn care, including those performing Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV). Includes L&D, well-baby, postpartum or lactation nurses, or midwife assistants.

Advanced

Lessons 1–11

Full NRP

Required for nurses, RTs, doctors, NPs & emergency personnel handling high-risk births. Expected to perform full neonatal resuscitation.

What to Bring & Wear

Bring a valid photo ID and wear comfortable clothing. You'll be on your hands and knees working with neonatal manikins — we provide all necessary equipment. No additional materials required.

What do I need to do before booking this skills check-off?

You must complete the online NRP exam on the NRP Learning Platform first. That is a separate purchase directly from the AAP — it is not included in the $250 skills check-off price. Once you've passed the online exam, you have 90 days to complete your in-person skills session with us.

How do I know if I need Essentials or Advanced?

Check with your employer or organization before registering. Essentials (Lessons 1–4) is for providers involved in newborn care who are not expected to perform a full resuscitation code — such as L&D nurses, postpartum nurses, or midwife assistants. Advanced (Lessons 1–11) is required for providers expected to lead or perform a full neonatal resuscitation, including nurses in high-risk settings, RTs, doctors, and NPs. The exam you complete online must match the level you come in for.

Does the $250 include the online module?

No. The $250 is for the in-person skills check-off only. The online NRP exam must be purchased separately on the NRP Learning Platform directly from the AAP before your in-person session.

When will I receive my NRP card?

Your NRP card is issued the same day you complete your skills check-off.

How long does the in-person session take?

Session length varies depending on the student and course level. Essentials typically runs shorter than Advanced. Plan for approximately 1–2 hours for your in-person session.

Can I take this if my NRP card is expired?

Yes — this check-off is open to initial certifications, expired cards, and renewals. Just make sure you complete the online exam before your session.

Do you offer group NRP training?

Yes — for groups of 6 or more we offer reduced pricing and can come to your location throughout Austin and all surrounding areas. Contact us for a quote.

What is your cancellation policy?

A $25 cancellation fee applies if you cancel or do not show up. To reschedule, contact us as soon as possible.
