PHTLS trains providers to improve trauma care quality and reduce mortality. Students learn evidence-based trauma assessment and management — from the scene of the incident through transport to the hospital — with a focus on critical thinking for both basic and advanced providers.

Is the online module included in the $250?

No. The $250 covers the in-person session only. The online module must be purchased separately through PSG Learning before you register for the in-person portion. Make sure you complete the online module first.

What's the difference between Initial, Refresher, and Skills Check-Off?

Initial is for first-time PHTLS certification. Refresher is for renewing an existing PHTLS cert. Skills Check-Off is for students who have completed the online portion independently and just need the in-person skills evaluation. All three are $250.

How long is the in-person session?

The initial course can typically be completed in two days. Refresher and skills check-off sessions are shorter. Session length can vary depending on the student and group size.

How long is the PHTLS certification valid?

4 years — longer than most healthcare certifications including ACLS and PALS. You will receive an official NAEMT PHTLS wallet card upon successful completion.

What should I bring to the in-person session?

Bring a valid photo ID and wear comfortable clothing. You'll be practicing hands-on trauma skills — we provide all necessary equipment. Bring your online module completion certificate if applicable.

Do you offer group or on-site PHTLS training?

Yes — for groups of 6 or more we offer reduced pricing and can bring our instructors and equipment to your location throughout Austin and all surrounding areas. Contact us for a quote.
