What is the Heartcode by American Heart Association?

What is the Heartcode?

Heartcode is an online comprehensive learning program provided by the American Heart Association.  Heartcode is a hybrid learning option (part online and part in person). Heartcode and mandatory in-person skills check will allow the student to get certified by American Heart Association.  The first step entails the student taking the majority of the coursework online by taking the eLearning Heartcode.  This can be purchased on the AHA website or your instructor will send you a link if you paid for a hybrid course on our website.

Do I have to complete the Heartcode all at once?

This can be completed at home and does not have to be completed in one sitting, you can pause the course and come back to it later.

What does the Heartcode cover?

Heartcode focuses on simulations, self-directed learning and interactive activities.  In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision-making and skills development.

Is there an exam?

Heartcode ACLS and PALS require an exam built into the program students must pass the multiple-choice exam with a minimum score of 84%.  Interactive patient scenarios built into the program may be repeated as many times as necessary to pass.  There will be no exam at the in-person training.
